I bought a lovely watercolour by a Joyce M Davies; I put Joyce M Davies into a google search and found this site and her page; Was the Joyce Davies in your family an artist and if so where did she exhibit? Is she still alive?
4 April 2009 - England
Webmaster comments   The only information we have about Joyce is shown on the website. Her marriage certificate did not show any occupation. It would be nice if she was the same Joyce Davies as the artist of your painting. She died in 2001.

My great grand father was Alonzo Goody Newman, his birth cert : mother Caroline Newman ;father John Goody Publican; This was in MT Bures Essex; I cannot find anything else about John Goody, Caroline never married; Alonzo was born C1856; Just wondered if you had any info; The Thatchers Arms in Mt Bures appears to be involved;
5 March 2009 - Suffolk
Webmaster comments   Thank you for your message, unfortunately we have no information at the moment about John Goody. The only information we have found is:

Caroline's father, John Newman constructed two cottages further along the road in Mount Bures, known today as the "Thatchers Arms".

Caroline Newman (1834 -1899), in turn bought the property from her mother, Mary Newman in 1889 after the death of her father John.
Caroline although unmarried had a son Alonzo who became a miller - his father was a publican John Goody.
She eventually died in the Lexden Workhouse of heart disease. We can only assume she had no-one to look after her locally, so her failing health destined her for the Workhouse.

Sorry we can't help you any further.

Hi, I'm trying to find out all I can about Charles Goody, who was born in Glemsford about 1817; Is there any chance you could help?
25 February 2009 - England
Webmaster comments   Unfortunately, we have not yet researched the Glemsford church records and for a person born at this time it is the only way to trace him accurately.
