John was born in 1860.  John's father was John Goodey and his mother is Eliza Marriage.  His paternal grandparents are ????? ????? and Ann Goody. He had six brothers and a sister, named Frederic, Thomas, James, Henry, Walter, Jack and Rose.  He is the youngest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named George, Arthur and Ellen.
