Jack Goody
Jack was born on May 1st, 1923. Jack's father was
John William Goody and his mother was
Mary Waters. His paternal grandparents were
William Goody and
Martha Bird. He was an only child.
Birth was registered between April-June 1923 in Lanchester Registration District.
1939 Register shows that he was living in 1 Pont View, Leadgate, County Durham.
He worked for Consett Iron Company from 1939/40 I imagine, becoming a computer systems analyst and developing their early computer systems in the 60s. He left in the early 70s (when there were threats of relocation, closure etc) to join Durham County Council as a computer systems development officer and died in 1980, aged 56. He was a great musician, (clarinet and saxophone), playing almost every night in dance bands in the 40s and 50s. He gave up for a while when I was born in 1959 and then began to play again in clubs in the late 60s and until his death. He was a good golfer too.
