John Rankine Goody
John was born on July 27th, 1919. John's father was
Harold Ernest Goody and his mother was
Lilian Rankine. His paternal grandparents were
Ernest Herbert Goody and
Helen Mead. He had two brothers named
Richard and
Hugh. He was the oldest of the three children.
Birth was registered between July-Sept 1919 in Hammersmith Registration District.
1939 Register shows that he was living in 1 Gainsborough Avenue, St Albans City, Hertfordshire.
He went on to become an Anthropologist and Author.
Among many honours he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1976 and created Commandeur dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2006. He was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2005.

1962 National Probate and Wills records show that he was a Ph D University Lecturer at the time of his mother's death.
