Male Samuel Goody

Samuel was born on October 11th, 1836.  Samuel's father is Frederick Goody and his mother was Louisa Jane Garbutt.  His paternal grandparents are Samuel Goody and Frances Causton. He had three brothers named Frederick, Henry and Thomas.  He was the second oldest of the four children.

General Notes

Parish records show that he was christened in St Giles Church, Camberwell, Surrey on 6th November 1836 or St Peter, Walworth, Surrey by J G Welsh whilst residing in Westminster Place, Walworth Common, Surrey.
1841 Census shows that he was 4 years of age and living in John Street, Newington, Surrey.
1851 Census shows that he was 14 years of age, born in Newington, Surrey and living in 5 Cross Street, Newington, Surrey.
1871 Census shows that he was 34 years of age, born in Walworth, Surrey and living in William Street, Shoreditch, Haggerston West.
1881 Census shows that he was 44 years of age, born in Peckham, Surrey and living at 8 Holcomb Street, Shoreditch, London.
1891 Census shows that he was 54 years of age, born in Norwood, Surrey and living in 8 Halcomb Street, Shoreditch, London.

Occupation Details

Parish records at the time of his marriage show that he was a Leather Grainer.
Parish records show he was a Dyer in 1862.
Parish records show he was a Labourer in 1870.
1871 Census shows that he was a Wood Cutter.
1891 Census shows that he was a Dye Wood Cutter.

Death Notes

Death was registered between July-Sept 1896 in Shoreditch Registration District. Died at the age of 60 in 1896.

Samuel's family with Mary Ann Butler

Samuel and Mary were married in a religious & civil ceremony on November 13th, 1854.  They had four sons and eight daughters, named Henry, Frederick, Owen, Samuel, Louisa, Catherine, Ellen, Emma, Mary, Ada, Louisa and Florence.
Marriage was registered between Oct-Dec 1854 in St Georges South Registration District.
Parish records show that they were married in St Mary Magdalene, Church, Southwark, Surrey on 13th November 1854 by Geroge M Gibbs, Curate.
The witnesses were William Montgomery, M A Townsend and Mary Marez
Mary Marez  and Mary Ann Butler were illiterate.
Samuel was shown as being a bachelor living at 8 Cross Street, Southwark, Surrey.
Mary Ann was shown as being a spinster living at 1 Oakley Court, Southwark, Surrey.
