1851 Census shows that she was 48 years of age, born in Stanway, Essex and living at Malting Green, Layer de la Haye, Essex.

Mary Ann's first family with Thomas Goody

Mary Ann and Thomas were married on October 25th, 1821.  They had four sons and three daughters, named Thomas, Samuel, John, William, Mary Ann, Eliza and Marianne.
Parish records show that they were married in St Albright's Church, Stanway, Essex by John Taylor.
The witnesses were William Smith and Elizabeth Taylor.
Thomas was illiterate.
