William Lowes
William was born in 1891. William's father was
John Lowes and his mother was
Martha Rose Goody. His maternal grandparents were
William Goody and
Martha Bird. He has two sisters named
Florence and
Edith. He is the oldest of the three children.

1901 Census shows that he was 10 years of age, born in Consett, Durham and living in Consett, Durham.
1911 Census shows that he was 20 years of age, born in Consett, Co. Durham and living in Lanchester, Co. Durham.
He served in the Durham Light Infantry during World War 1.
Sent a postcard from Rouen, France dated July 7 1916 to Mrs R Charlton c/o Goody in Leadgate which read as:
Dear Mother , am sending a P.C. to E. Bolden too , as I'm not sure from your letter whether you will be there , or at Leadgate . I'm quite well but plenty of work . Have heard nothing more from Jim or Albert but will go to the Cavalry Camp tonight if I can - Will
