Sidney was born in 1928.  Sidney's father was Sidney W Goody and his mother was Violet Foster.  His paternal grandparents were Sidney Goody and Susannah Proud. He had three brothers and five sisters, named George, Raymond, Brian, Violet, Rose, Betty, Rita and Doreen.  He was the oldest of the nine children.
