Birth was registered between July-Sept 1884 in Halstead Registration District.
1891 Census shows that he was 4 years of age and living in Hedingham, Halstead, Essex.
1901 Census shows that he was 16 years of age, born in Ridgwell, Essex and living in Drury Lane, Ridgwell Entire, Essex. His name is shown as Archie in this census.
1911 Census shows that he was 26 years of age and living in Halstead, Essex District. His name is shown as Archie.
He is shown in the Imperial War Museum records as being a Transport Warrant Officer.
The records of the East Anglian Militia Attestations 1860-1912 show that he was a soldier in the Essex 44th Foot Regiment, 4th Battalion at some stage. The Army Birth and Baptism Returns show that he was in the 44th Regiment during 1903, 1906 and 1908.
In 1916 he is shown as being a Company Sergeant Major in the 12th Suffolk Regiment and was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal on 14th November 1916 for conspicious gallantry in action. He went to the assistance of a patrol under very heavy fire, and helped to conduct the retirement. Later, he rescued several wounded men at great personal risk. He set a splendid example throughout. In the Army Gazette dated 17th June 1918 he is shown as being a Regimental Sergeant Major in the 12th Battalion Suffolk Regiment and awarded a Distinguished Service Medal for devotion. His service number is shown as 9728.
1939 Register shows that he was living in 101 Wells Park Road, Lewisham, London.

Death was registered between Jan-Mar 1958 in Essex South West Registration District at 73 years of age. Died at the age of 73 in 1958. Archer and Martha were married in 1903.  They had three sons and a daughter, named Archer, William, James and Rosie.
